This solo was designed to be played in conjunction with Henry Purcell's Trumpet Tune, arranged by Christine D. Anderson and published by Agape/Hope Publishing, as part of the collection Classic Baroque Solos, Code No. 1618.  The measure numbers of this arrangement have been notated so that the first measure of Air is the measure after the end of Trumpet Tune; the key of Air has been chosen so that it is in the parallel minor key (ie. c minor) of Trumpet Tune.

Simply play Trumpet Tune as written, then immediately play Air, then play Trumpet Tune again, perhaps only one time through each theme (ie. mm 9-16 and mm 25-32).

This piece will also stand on its own, so if you do not wish to play it in conjunction with Trumpet Tune… don't!

Michèle has published alternate choreography for Trumpet Tune on her Clearinghouse of Choreography site.

The choreography published with Air assumes that you are using the alternative Trumpet Tune choreography.  HOWEVER – it IS possible to do both of these pieces from keyboard order using simple weaving and passing techniques and without any duplicate bells!
